On Saturday, 29th September 2025, Grendon Hall in Northamptonshire will become the stage for the World Murder Mystery Championship – a thrilling evening of mystery, intrigue, and competition. By the end of the night, one team or individual will be crowned the World Champion of Murder Mysteries, lifting the prestigious Sherlock Trophy.

Set in 1892, the chilling mystery unfolds at Blackwood Manor, where guests have gathered for the reading of Lord Blackwood’s will. But before they can claim the inheritance, murder strikes. A priceless ruby, a shattered case, and a web of lies set the stage for a detective race like no other. 

As darkness closes in, it’s up to you to outwit Detective Killburn and solve the crime. From secrets and double lives to secret societies and long-held grudges, can you crack the case before anyone else?

This evening’s Plot 

The Crimson Star Affair

Northamptonshire, 1892. As the fog thickens over the cobbled streets of Grendon, a select few gather at Blackwood Manor for the reading of Lord Blackwood’s will. The reclusive nobleman has died under curious and madness ridden circumstances, and rumours are already swirling about his fortune, his secrets, and the whereabouts of the legendary Crimson Star, a cursed ruby stolen years ago from a sacred Indian temple.

Tensions rise when the contents of the will are revealed: one guest is set to inherit everything. But before they can celebrate, or flee, they are found dead, brutally murdered, with a fragment of the ruby’s shattered case clenched in their bloodied hand.

Now, with the estate locked down and suspicion hanging heavy in the air, a detective known only as Killburn is called in to investigate. But as they dig deeper, it becomes clear that the Crimson Star may not be missing at all and someone among the guests will stop at nothing to keep its secrets buried.

From opium dens to secret societies, double lives to long-held grudges, every revelation brings Killburn closer to the truth, and closer to danger. Because in this house, everyone has something to hide.

And the curse of the Crimson Star is only just beginning. Can you beat Killburn to the solution?
